Marlborough Park upgrade kicks off
/Marlborough Park upgrade kicks off
Upgrades to Marlborough Park in Glenfield are now underway. The project will include construction of:
- a new play space
- a new full-size basketball court
- improved perimeter paths.
The new play space will have inground trampolines, water-play features, a basket swing, rope net, slide and shade sail.
The basketball court area will be extended into a full-court and then be resurfaced with a vibrant blue and green colour scheme.
“It’s great to see these works underway,” says Kaipātiki Local Board Chair Danielle Grant.
“Marlborough Park is an extremely popular park with our young people and local families, so the improvements will be enjoyed by many."
“When completed, the park will have a better and wider range of activities for all ages.”
Access restricted during construction
Access to Marlborough Park will be restricted at some times during construction. Completed areas will be reopened as they are finished to minimise disruption.
Access to the skate park, youth centre, tennis club and rock hounds facilities will remain open via Archers Road and the Chartwell Avenue car park.
The work at Marlborough Park is expected to be completed in September 2017.
